Today, the lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum) can be found in states as far north as Maine and as far west as central Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Because the lone star tick is an aggressive feeder and known vector of Ehrlichia ewingii and Ehrlichia chaffeensis, increased prevalence of this tick means it could now be a threat to dogs in your area. |
